The College can truly claim to be at the leading edge of vocational nuclear industry training.
It is the South West hub for The National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) leading the regional network of NSAN approved training providers and our Cannington campus is the home of the Magnox South Decommissioning Centre.
We gained a national Beacon Award for our work with employers in this sector and have several high quality practical courses at all levels.
In qualifying in a course assured by NSAN you will gain valuable marketable skills needed by the nuclear sector helping you to find career pathways to reach your full potential.
Paul Goss, Head of the National College for Nuclear (Southern Hub) said, “The National College for Nuclear will provide young people with a fantastic opportunity right on their doorsteps. School leaver full-time programmes in engineering and science or Apprenticeships will provide unique progression pathways into the sector and university degrees, setting them up for an exciting and successful career."

What our students say
“There is a huge future for nuclear engineering and fortunately I live in an area where specialist training and facilities are located to assist with the industry’s progression. My employer fully supports my learning, which allows me to put into practice the theory I learn in the classroom into a workplace setting.”
Jake is studying the Nuclear Engineering Foundation Degree and works as a Maintenance Technician at Hinkley Point B Station.
“I regret that I didn’t do better at school, because aspects of this course have really challenged me. But my employer and the College have supported me all the way and I’ve just graduated with Distinction! I’ve had a promotion at work as well, so my hard work has really paid off.”
Having completed the Foundation Degree in Nuclear Decommissioning, Shaun has set his sights on an Honours Degree, but in the short term has key projects at the Hinkley Point a station to complete.
