Subject Information

The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a basic knowledge of health and safety for all personnel on engineering sites to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others.

The Client Contractor National Safety Group, or CCNSG, is a consortium of major industrialists from the power generation, steel, oil, gas and chemical industries who recognise the need to train contractors on basic safety to a common standard.

The group has standardised basic safety training and devised a core curriculum which has now become a national training scheme. Representatives from major clients serve on the CCNSG steering group and there is also representation from contractors, training providers, trades unions and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The CCNSG meets regularly to ensure that standards are being maintained and that the content of the training scheme continues to meet current safety legislation and safety practices.

The scheme is certified by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board and is frequently a specified requirement for contractors wishing to work on engineering construction sites. Bridgwater College is a CCNSG Safety Passport Approved Training Provider and training is delivered by tutors with relevant industry experience.
