If you enjoy working outdoors and are looking for a career in a demanding and well skilled industry, then a career in arboriculture may be for you. The skills you will need are taught using the College's excellent practical facilities including a wide range of industry standard machinery including chippers, chainsaws, a mobile work platform and stump grinders. With our excellent links to other forestry sites, you will never be short of a practical project or tree climbing practice!

We currently have excellent links with Westonbirt National Arboretum, where students have the opportunity to work amongst the 600 acres of rolling countryside and 18,500 catalogued trees and shrubs.

What our students say

Arboriculture Student Rob Stark

Rob Stark

I love the hands-on environment at Cannington - there’s nothing better than putting your learning into action on a daily basis. We get experience of working with a wide range of equipment from chainsaws to a Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP), and go on numerous trips to other sites to broaden our experience. It’s a great way to learn.”

Rob Stark, former pupil of Haygrove School in Bridgwater, plans to put his skills into practice on completion of his course and work in the family business.
