Another win for College Showchoir
Bridgwater College's Music and Performing Arts Programme has had another outstanding success, this time at the prestigious Mid-Somerset Music Festival in Bath. The College Show Choir, directed by Kathryn Stevens, won the Popular & Show Song Competition Cup, coming first place with Distinction and was awarded the Young Choirs Challenge Trophy. The Show Choir gave a magnificent performance in a class with some very strong competition, and the distinguished adjudicator Douglas Coombe described their performance as "vigourous...enthusiastic...so enjoyable".
The College Choir, directed by David Forde and Kathryn Stevens, followed later in a class that featured incredibly strong competition from other excellent choirs. Again adjudicator Douglas Coombe made really positive comments about the choir's "big sound, excellent ensemble...great dynamic range...and excellent teaching" before awarding Bridgwater College first place with distinction and the Lady Wilkinson Memorial Cup.
David Forde (Section Leader for Music and Performing Arts) said "Our students loved the event with its opportunity to hear other choirs and get professional feedback. We are thrilled that our Choral Programme has been so successful - it is a testimony to the talent, dedication and hard-work of our students and staff".
