A Chinese Early Years Training Academy, the Huifan Institute, recently sent two directors to Bridgwater College to learn about the UK early years sector and to explore opportunities for Chinese Nursery Head Teachers to come and study in the UK.
The visitors attended a presentation on UK education and the Early Years Foundation Stage, and visited a number of local nurseries and schools to see how these are implemented in practice. The nursery tour included the College’s Childcare Centre and the Bridgwater College Academy.
Following the visit, Karen Morgan, Section Leader for Heath, Care and Education at the College also delivered a talk at a conference in Beijing last week to tell Chinese delegates about the ten day training programme we will be offering them in December.
“The enthusiasm of the Chinese teachers was evident and they are really keen to come over here to learn about UK teaching methods. I also visited a nursery in Beijing where I saw examples of nursery age children painting, dancing, performing and playing with paper aeroplanes. We had more in common than we had differences, and I hope to take some of our full-time students to China as a follow up. I am looking forward to welcoming the Head Teachers in December for three days of taught classroom sessions, some sightseeing and visits to local schools and nurseries.”
