The Team BTC Elite team travelled to Torquay Academy for their next fixture in the AoC Category 2 league. After beating Torquay in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season, Team BTC were looking to get another win. The game kicked off in blustery conditions with some early exchanges between both sides.
The game soon settled down and Team BTC passed high to win a free kick just inside the final third. A great delivery from Harry Butler saw Kyle Winter rise the highest and head the ball home. Twelve minutes in and the first goal was scored. Torquay kicked the game off again and Team BTC, now hungry for more, won the ball out wide. An excellent cross from Charlie Dodds found a late Harry Butler run, of which Butler slotted home for a two goal lead just fourteen minutes into the game. The game continued in the same fashion with Team BTC completely in control and searching for more opportunities. Tireless running from Jordan Lovibond enabled Team BTC to stretch the opposition and free up the central midfield players to be able to dictate the game. The half time whistle went with Team BTC going into the break with a two goal advantage.
Torquay were the better side in the second half and won more second balls than not. This forced Team BTC to be organised in defence and remain firm. A good ten minutes spell for Team BTC saw a great through ball from Jordan Lovibond give half-time substitute Jamie Moss the opportunity to round the keeper and score past two defenders on the line. Lovibond had a few late chances when he decided to square the ball rather than shoot, and Paul Grant had a late penalty appeal turned down. Torquay never gave up and continued to battle until the last whistle but Team BTC won by three goals. We wish Torquay all the best for the rest of the season.
