University places confirmed for IBDP students - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Once again, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students at Bridgwater & Taunton College have achieved outstanding results.

The IBDP is an internationally recognised alternative to A Levels and is designed for highly academic and motivated students who have an interest across a wide variety of subjects. Students are required to study six different subjects along with some core elements, all of which make up a maximum score of 45.

Collectively, this year’s students achieved an average score of 32.5 points, an improvement of half a percent on last year’s results, placing them above the global average of 30 points. Furthermore, six students gained very high scores between 37 and 40 points.

IB students receive their results in July, meaning they are in a position to accept university places a month before their A Level counterparts. Students have confirmed spaces with universities such as Aberystwyth, Bath, Cardiff Met, Exeter, Hull, Warwick, and Bridgwater & Taunton College’s own University Centre Somerset, which is situated at the Taunton campus.

Martyn Aldridge, IB Co-ordinator at the College said,

“It is remarkable to watch these young people grow from the Year 11s that we initially interviewed two years ago, into the doctors, lawyers, zoologists and art historians of the future. The IB, with its range of subjects and character-building activities including our annual trip to Morocco, is such a great preparation for life at university and beyond the classroom.”
