Members of Bridgwater & Taunton College’s 999 Academy were very privileged to be invited by Sue Mountstevens, the Police and Crime Commissioner, to watch the National Police Dog Trials at the Avon and Somerset Police Headquarters.

Students were able to see the extremely high standards at national level of the dogs and their handlers. They were also thrilled to meet some of them and were lucky enough to spend time with a very young new recruit, Belle.

Owen Cheffey, who wants to join the Police as a Dog Handler, said it was interesting to see how the dogs performed and it has made him even more determined to apply to the force once he finishes his Public Services degree at Bridgwater & Taunton College.
