Bridgwater & Taunton College Wins with 1610 Leisure - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Bridgwater & Taunton College were one of three training providers pitching to leisure group 1610 to deliver their Apprenticeship programmes. Successful in their presentation, the College was chosen as the organisation 1610 want to work with!

During a sign-up day, nine apprentices were enrolled on to a variety of Apprenticeship framework programmes, including Level 2 Leisure Operations, Level 2 Activity Leadership, and Level 3 Personal Trainer.

The apprentices range in age from 16 – 31 and work at 1610 sites across the South West, including Glastonbury, Yeovil and Devon.

Bridgwater & Taunton College Trainer/Assessor Toni McKinley, who will be visiting the apprentices in their place of work on a regular basis, said,

Melissa Teacy – Activity Leadership Apprentice

“We are so pleased to be working with such a well-known employer in the area. The College has a vast experience in delivery Apprenticeships, and we are very excited to be supporting 1610 with their commitment to training their staff.”

Apprentice Melissa Teacy, 31, is developing her career through her Activity Leadership Apprenticeship, wanting to qualify as a Fitness Instructor, and eventually gaining the Personal Trainer Level 3 qualification, which she hopes to start in September. She said,

“My job role at 1610 in Glastonbury is vast and varied; I have a strong customer service background and enjoy meeting new people”, says Melissa. “With my Apprenticeship, I genuinely enjoy researching information especially when it's to do with physiology and anatomy and various techniques used in the fitness industry.”

Simon Bone, Training Manager at 1610 says,
