Degree students on Fine Art and Textiles and Surface Design courses at Bridgwater & Taunton College showcased their work at the grand opening of the new TePe Oral Hygiene UK headquarters in Wells.

As part of a sustainable industry project, the students engaged with the interdental products and the surrounding area to provide creative artwork for the working environment including meeting rooms, communal spaces, reception areas and offices. The Swedish-based company, is a global leader

Business leaders and VIPs from across the Wells area along with the CEO of TePe and his senior delegation from Sweden were highly impressed with the level of creativity shown in the pieces which will enhance the working spaces with dynamic colour and vibrancy. Textiles and Surface Design students Edyta Skros, Joelle Simpson and Fleur Walker were overwhelmed with the hugely positive response from their work as they got the chance to talk through their ideas to the contingent.

Fine Art Degree students, Amber Croker, Mark Croker, Tilly Hughes, Olivia Peace, Molly Studley and Laura Biss were able to develop their skills towards the commission through, printmaking, 3D, montage and illustrative work, discussing their ideas and processes in a series of talks.

Fine Art Course Leader, Molly Rooke was very pleased with the success of the project which brought together professional development and communication skills in a client-led commission.

“These projects are an excellent way of preparing our students to make a living from their creativity, there are so many opportunities for Fine Artists in the region and it is great that our course can work with global brands such as TePe.”

Curriculum Manager, Matt Cox praised the students involved,

“I am very proud of how the students handled the project from start to finish, they have been impeccable in their approach and the staff at TePe have had nothing but high praise for the way the project has gone. It is an exciting time for Creative Arts at Degree level with the launch of the University Centre Somerset imminent. We will no doubt work with TePe and other such brands both locally and nationally again in the future.”
