Students sign for Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Two students who are studying the Football Coaching in Community Settings course at Bridgwater & Taunton College have secured coaching contracts with Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust on completion of their course.

Lewis Winter and Harry Barnes, who are currently completing the final year of their course, which is run in partnership with Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, will be able to put in to practice what they have learnt on their course, which includes units such as Anatomy and Physiology, Sports Injuries and Analysing Performance, as well as gaining nationally recognised Football association football coaching qualifications.

Yeovil Town Community Trust manager Sara Bradley said,

“Through our excellent partnership with Bridgwater & Taunton College, we are starting to produce competent coaches who are ready to assist in the delivery of high quality programmes within our community. Both Lewis and Harry have been extremely dedicated to the Trust by volunteering at a number of our programmes over the last two years, so I was pleased to be able to reward them by offering them positions at the Trust.”

On reflection of his new role, Harry Barnes said,

“Having been involved with the Community Trust since the age of 9, it’s a real honour to start my coaching career with them. I have learnt a lot which has helped me with my studies and coach development.”

Lewis Winter added,

“I’m very proud to be given such a fantastic opportunity with the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, I know I will progress and develop within the team. I am looking forward to getting started.”

Michelle Yeowell, Course Leader for Football Coaching in Community Settings said,

“I’m extremely proud of both Lewis and Harry for securing jobs within the industry while still completing their qualifications. They have both developed into confident, responsible young adults who have put in countless volunteer hours where they have showcased their skills and commitment to be professional coaches. This is what the course is about, providing young individuals with the opportunity to study and develop as a coach in partnership with a professional football club’s community trust.”
