Military Prep team pipped at the post - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Students studying Level 3 Public Services and Level 2 Military Preparations at Bridgwater & Taunton College spent an excellent two days with the Royal Marines and Royal Navy and took part in a number of challenges at Pier Cellars against ten other colleges.

The challenges included a sledge pull, observation stance, marble run, command task x two, stretcher make and race, grenade throwing, Kim's game, naval terminology, NavEx and tug of war.

The Military Preparation team from Bridgwater & Taunton College did extremely well winning the tug of war, command tasks and sledge pull. The wins put the team in a strong position, leading against close rivals from New College Swindon.

By the end of the two days the points tallies were close and the winner was to be decided on the navigation exercise over a 10k walk where students navigated around the course collecting and solving clues.

Unfortunately, after all the points were added up the Military Preparation team were pipped to the post and missed out being the top team by one point. Overall the three Bridgwater & Taunton College teams came second missing out on the final college trophy by two points.

Alex Young, Course Leader for Sport and Public Services said,

“Although disappointed, the students demonstrated excellent teamwork skills, they were a credit to the College and the instructors from the Training team all commented on how well all the colleges had worked together making for one of the best events they had run.”

Students from Truro, New College Swindon and Bridgwater & Taunton College all had a great time and were a credit to their college.

Ten teams in total took part in the following events: Sledge pull, observation stance, marble run, command task x two, stretcher make and race, Grenade throwing, Kim's game, naval terminology, NavEx and tug of war.
