Football report: Team BTC Development vs Torquay - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Team BTC Development faced a tough home match against Torquay 1st team on Wednesday 19 October.

The game started at a very fast pace, both teams creating chances within the first 10 minutes. Benji Douthwaite-Hodge nearly put the home side in front but hit the wrong side of the keepers post. This didn’t stop Team BTC from fighting on in the battle.

The game became more and more intense with both teams going end to end. At the 25 minute mark Torquay took the lead from a very good counter attack which was worked well. Team BTC took the ball out of the net and kept their heads up, ready to take the kick off.

The home team pushed for the equaliser before the first half was up. Scott Peters and Matt Elford paired up nicely to get in behind the Torquay defence. Scott ran the line and placed the ball deep into the box but unfortunately no Team BTC players were there to meet it.

The second half started well for Torquay, they broke fast from the kick off to get an early sight of their second goal. Ash Wilson and Regan Scotcher worked hard in the centre of midfield stopping the opposition getting through.

Unfortunately the fitness of the away team was much greater than the home side which led to another fast counter attack which resulted in a second goal for Torquay, almost saved by Harrison Young between the sticks. Both teams fought hard till the end with the result going Torquay’s way 0 – 2, giving them the three points.
