Team BTC Elite vs Richard Huish - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Team BTC Men’s Elite Football team hosted Richard Huish Men’s 1st team on Wednesday 5 October. The home side were the eventual winners, triumphing to a 4 – 2 win, following their last meeting losing 1 – 0 to Richard Huish in the Luke Buckingham Varsity fixture.

Team BTC were trying to kick start their season having made a bad start the previous week, losing to Yeovil College in what was a disappointing performance, conceding some weak goals despite being a threat in front of goal.

The home side didn’t get off to a good start when they failed to deal with a Huish corner. The ball bounced in and around the six yard box, making it a really easy finish for the Huish centre half within 15 minutes of play. Despite the setback, Team BTC dominated when in possession and created plenty of chances in front of the away sides goal.

It didn’t take long for Josh Evans to score the equaliser. Jack Hobbs robbed the Huish no.1 of possession, pulling the ball back to Josh Evans who smashed it home to make it 1 – 1 from inside the penalty area. Chances continued to fall for the home side with Jordan Lovibond a constant threat in behind the Huish back line. However, decisiveness lacked and the game finished 1 – 1 at the interval.

The home side took the lead after the interval, Jack Hobbs pinning his man, spinning and shooting to the keeper’s right. The Huish keeper could only parry it to Josh Evans who followed up on the rebound and slotted it home for 2 – 1. Lovibond and Evans squandered glorious chances for ten minutes having taken a 2 – 1 lead. Lovibond then found his shooting boots when captain Harry Hamblin played a through ball into the path of Lovibond who struck the ball home with ease having out ran the Huish defender for pace.

Corey Hucker had seemed to have put the home side 4 – 1 up with a back post header from a corner but instead knocked Brereton off balance for neither to finish until the ball bounced twice. Brereton regaining balance and smashing the ball over the line from two yards.

Huish got themselves back on the score with minutes to go with a through ball played between Gunningham and Cattle. The Huish no.7 driving through to slot the ball home.
