Language Perfect World Championships 2016 - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Twenty students studying French, Italian and Spanish at Bridgwater College took part in the Language Perfect World Championships 2016 recently.

The Language Perfect is an online resource used by more than 1,000 school and colleges worldwide, to increase the profile of languages. The annual world championships allow students to work at their own pace to test their language knowledge.

The students on A Level and International Baccalaureate Programmes worked incredibly hard on their vocabulary and verbs to put Bridgwater College on the world map with their language skills! Between them, they answered 30,534 questions!

Five students did especially well; Lizzie Dabenett and Monika Terelak, who are studying A Level French at the College, achieved Gold Awards, Lizzie being the College’s overall top scorer. International Baccalaureate student, Olivia Reed, achieved a Silver award. Rheanne Lee, Clara Pichel, Emily Harwood achieved Credit awards. Overall results of the competition showed that Bridgwater College placed seventh overall in England for all Languages in the 1-50 students category out of 22 schools.

Irena Hubble-Brezowski, Course Leader for French at Bridgwater College said,

“This was an excellent way to motivate our students to learn and refresh vocabulary at exactly the right time of the year, as they approached their exams. The Programme is really easy to use and everybody had fun while learning at their own pace.”
