The grand final is being held on Thursday 24th March at Komedia in Bath as part of the Bath Film Festival. The entries will be played in front of an audience and a panel of industry judges with prizes ranging from £250 to £1000.

Corey Halford (Bridgwater College music technology student), Film Score grand finalist 2016.

FilmScore is a unique competition which invites young musicians aged between 14 – 19 who live in or study in the West of England to compose a score for one of six short films provided by Bath Film Festival.

144 young people entered the competition and Corey has been selected as one of only six grand finalists for his score to the short film ‘Strange Wonderful’ so to reach the grand final is already a fantastic achievement.

Simon Prentice, Music Technology Lecturer said,

“Corey worked really hard on composing and producing his score and when I heard his completed work I knew he had a very good chance of being selected for the grand final. I was really impressed with his attention to detail with the sound design and his musical interpretation of his chosen film creates a sense of wonderment that really enhances the film and captures the audience.

“This is the second consecutive year that one of our students has reached the grand final, which is testament to the high standard of work our students are producing here at Bridgwater College. I am very proud of Corey for reaching the 2016 grand final and I look forward to attending the event in Bath.”

Judges on the night include Nainita Desai (OSCAR, BAFTA and EMMY nominated composer), Alastair King (orchestrator and conductor with film & TV projects including Downtown Abbey, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who) and Mark Russell (BAFTA nominated composer whose work includes scores for the TV series Cold Feet and the Disney TV series The Evermoor Chronicles).
