Engineering Students in Germany Exchange Project - Bridgwater & Taunton College

The Engineering department at Bridgwater College recently hosted a group of teachers visiting from Munich Technology School, a manufacturing school in Germany.

Matthias Weickl and his colleagues were extremely impressed with both the engineering facilities in the College’s Energy Skills Centre and the positive learning environment they experienced. During the visit an exciting student exchange programme between Bridgwater College and the Munich Technology School was agreed. The scheme will incorporate a joint design and manufacture project which will be delivered in Bridgwater and Munich.

Bridgwater College Engineering students will have the opportunity to travel to Munich for an extended period where they will complete 50% of the design project, before hosting the German students at Bridgwater College, where they will complete the design and manufacture project. The very latest engineering technology, expertise and knowledge will be shared with the students to develop their skills and knowledge with employer engagement at the heart of the activity.

Chris Hunt, Curriculum Manager for Engineering at Bridgwater College said,

“The opportunity for learners on our full time study programmes to engage in this project is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It will give them an incredible experience of studying in Germany combined with valuable skills gained from their industry and culture.”
