College dress for RAG Day - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Staff and students at Bridgwater College packed the College with fancy dress to raise nearly £8,000 so far with more money still rolling in for three fantastic charities at this year’s Raise and Give (RAG) Day.

A huge array of activities filled the College to raise money for The Motor Neurone Disease Association, The Hawk and Owl Trust and the Eddystone Trust for HIV and Sexual Health. Fund raising has been taking place throughout the College since the beginning of December with raffles, cake sales and activities taking place. On the day, the College became the host for activities which included a Zombie Apocalypse, with all props and make up done by the College’s Media make-up students, a Man vs Food challenge, bubble football, Bridgwater’s Got Talent, Laser Quest and the annual Fashion Show to name a few.

In the afternoon, Music students delighted the local community with a concert in the Town Centre. The exciting performance included something to suit all tastes, from a classical repertoire to festive Christmas favourites. The show’s finale was a lively covers set performed by the College’s Music Academy.

The College have been working hard to ensure that the students had a fun but safe day. Mark Nettle, Director of Student Services at the College said,

“We had a brilliant day with everything from indoor sports, to a ukulele jamming session and several hundred of our students finished the day with a party at the Palace nightclub. The College and Student Union couldn’t have made it such a great day without a fantastic partnership with the Police, the South West Ambulance Service, and the Street Pastors. Students enjoyed themselves and stayed safe too.”
