Floristry students explore new industry trends - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Students studying Floristry at Bridgwater College’s Yeovil and Cannington Centres visited a large sundries wholesaler recently to discover the latest trends within the industry.

The group used the opportunity to source props for a future project involving building large mock window displays and event decorating course work.

Jacqui Weaver, Course Leader for Floristry at the College said,

“This is an ideal activity for learners to experience wholesale to retail pricing structures. It also provided excellent market research into current styles featured within the industry.”

Student Ruby Cresswell added,

“I was surprised by the scale of the site on this trip; we certainly had a wide variety of goods to assess. I am looking forward to our study tour in Spain next year to discover large scale displays in the European style of design.”

In April 2016 the students will be travelling to Holland on a three day study tour to explore the latest European trends before moving on to Girona in May for the Flors Du Temps Flower Festival to enhance their skills bases even further.
