Visitors were invited to explore the Gardens, to take part in the pumpkin trail and discover interesting facts about Halloween, such as which famous magician died on Halloween? Once the activity booklets were completed, children, (many in fancy dress) put their creative skills to the test and carved their pumpkins. They were able to finish their visit in the Gardens’ Tea Room, with a sweet treat and drink.

Other activities included face painting and special effects make-up and creepy croquet. The history of the Gardens and the ghostly goings-on were on display to add to the spooky atmosphere.

A pumpkin carving competition was also run, with Kieran Nash from Kingsmoor School winning first place. Kieran’s school will receive £200 worth of plants as a prize for the entry. All other pupils from Kingsmoor will receive family Season Tickets for The Walled Gardens of Cannington as an additional prize.

Katie Newbery, from Bridgwater said,

“We had a super brilliant time at The Walled Gardens of Cannington for the pumpkin hunt and carving and Halloween activities, the kids really enjoyed it, and I did too! Great fun was had by us all, even I got stuck into carving those pumpkins and it was great fun! The children enjoyed their presents at the end, our lovely cupcakes and drink!”
