Engineering Students Work With Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Students studying Apprenticeships and full-time courses in Engineering at Bridgwater College were given the fantastic opportunity to participate in two days of personal development activity workshops ran in partnership with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

The personal development activity workshops involve the students completing a variety of physically and mentally challenging activities (team tasks and physical fitness). The aim is to develop leadership, teamwork, confidence, and communication skills while giving them the opportunity to speak to soldiers and officers about career opportunities.

Chris Hunt, Engineering Curriculum Manager said,

“The opportunity for our engineering students to develop their personal skills such as team work, communication and employability in line with the Bridgwater College Advantage is of great benefit to our students and will underpin their future ambitions within the challenging engineering industry.”

Captain Jason Mather said,

“Soldiers from 105 Battalion REME visited Bridgwater for a personal development day. The staff were all really impressed by the zeal with which all learners undertook the tasks, and were particularly impressed by the leadership skills demonstrated, sometimes from unexpected quarters. The student feedback was overwhelmingly positive and the day was deemed a success by all.”
