Men’s football report: Team BC Elite North vs Richard Huish College - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Team BC Elite North men's football team came away with the three points away against a determined Richard Huish team, but made it extremely difficult for themselves in the process.

The travelling side started the game the stronger of the two teams and Harry Horton put Team BC 1 – 0 up just three minutes in, after a knock down from a corner was calmly hit with a half volley on the turn, giving the keeper no chance.

Team BC continued to dominate and in the twelfth minute extended their lead with Alex Male scoring after some good build up play starting from Kye Whelan on the opposite side. The next 20 minutes saw Team BC create several good chances, but only for some last ditch defending and very poor finishing, the score line wasn’t extended.

Then in the 35th minute, Team BC lost the ball in their own half, with Huish capitalising on the error striking from 25 yards with the ball looping over James Annison in goal. This spurred on the home side who were now carving opportunities to bring the scores back to level only for the halftime whistle to intervene.

Team BC started the second half started slowly and as both teams tried to take hold of the game, but it would be Huish to score the next goal, equalising from a set piece in the 50th minute.

Significant changes were made as Team BC chased the win, the reshuffle seeing Charlie White partnered up front with Harry Fitchew. Team BC were finally rewarded on the 65 minute marker as White got the wrong side of the defender and put BC back in front.

The final minutes of the game were comfortably seen through and in the final minutes of the game Fitchew was rewarded for his hard work throughout the afternoon grabbing a goal and the three points, the game finishing 4 – 2 to Team BC.

Head Coach Jamie Laird said,

“We started the game so well and should have been out of sight in the first 30 minutes. This proves when you don't take your changes and aren't ruthless the other team are always in the game. We made it much harder than it should have been. On the positive we are now three games unbeaten and top of the league.”

Team BC Elite North squads next fixture is in two weeks (21/10) time at home to City of Bath College.
