A big day in the Bridgwater College calendar is the launch of Team BC. The launch is the day where sportsmen and women have their Team BC Athlete status made official. They now have the opportunity to show their talents and skills in a wide range of sports and levels representing the college at the various different sports and competitions over this academic year.

With students competing in leagues against teams from across the South West and Wales in a wide range of sports such as Netball, Football, Hockey, Rugby, Basketball, Trampolining and Volleyball. Some of our teams have now stepped up a division with two of our football sides now playing in the South West category two division. The Team BC Women’s football side have now joined forces with Yeovil Town Ladies FC and our Rugby team are now competing in the South West Premier division. There are many reasons to get involved in Team BC sports teams or the Team BC Active programme this year. Please come and support the teams during matches taking place every Wednesday.

During the launch Jason Gunningham (Assistant Principal for Land-Based, Business and Sport) said,

“It’s fantastic to see so many students sign up for our sporting teams this year, it’s going to make for another exciting sporting year in the South West. Team BC team are eager to get started and we have recruited new and experienced coaches who we hope are going to make a positive influence on our teams.”

Carly Martin, Head of the Team BC Active programme said,

“We’ve had an increase in the number of students signing up to trials this year and we are really hoping that all of our teams are going to be able to challenge for high positions. All trial students will be successful in some form, no one will be unsuccessful. We hope those not selected for a team will take advantage of the Team BC Active programme.”
