Bridgwater College Student runs sporting activities at family fun days - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Charlie Fouracres, a Bridgwater College sport and exercise student and Team BC Activator took the opportunity to improve her coaching skills at Family Fun days in Yatton for North Somerset Council.

The days were designed to support families that have children with learning difficulties. They include a number of activities for children to take part in such as face painting, bouncy castles and sport.

Charlie, from Street, has built upon some of the core skills she had learnt on the Sport and Exercise Science course in order to lead these challenging sessions. The activities were varied and catered for a wide range of ages and abilities. After this fantastic experience Charlie has gained future employment next year by the council.

One family support worker stated,

“Charlie was a vital member of our family fun sessions this summer, she was able to adapt activities to fit the needs of all the disabled children that attended and was an asset to our team! The children really enjoyed spending the time with her too. We hope that she will be able to join us again next year.”

This experience will no doubt be invaluable to Charlie as she continues to work towards her next step in education. She is hoping to pursue a career working with Disability and Sport.
