Children from Bridgwater College’s Childcare Centre recently took part in World Book Day 2015, dressing up as their favourite book characters.
Bridgwater College’s Childcare Centre staff even joined in, with Mary Poppins, Elsa from Frozen, and pirates making appearances amongst others! The children in the 3 – 4 year olds group made their own books, practising their mark-making. The group also made gingerbread men to hide around the garden, and then went round the garden to find them. In the 2 – 3 year olds group, the children and staff acted out the ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ book, encouraging the children to use their imagination and remember the story.
Charlotte Weech, Deputy Manager said,
“Themed days are a fantastic way to engage the children; encouraging the love of books is a fundamental step towards school readiness.”
The Childcare Centre, which currently has available spaces, as well as for new September intakes, for children from four months to five years, prides itself on providing children with a consistent, caring and stimulating environment in which children’s independence, learning and development is actively encouraged. It also provides parents with a facility which is constant, yet flexible to their childcare needs.
A new website has been designed to provide information to both their current parents, and to inform those looking for childcare, of the facilities available. Parents can now look around the nursery from the comfort of their own home via the new site which also includes policies and fees.
Kate Kift, Day Care Manager said,
“This is a fantastic new addition to how we share information with our parents and carers. We are able to update the information on the services we offer including our Holiday Play Scheme, Parent Workshops and themes and topics such as World Book Day and Red Nose Day!”
