Two Bridgwater Town FC and Team BC Football Development Centre footballers have been selected to play for the Somerset Schools FA under 16 team this year.

Keelan Gunningham, who plays as a centre back and Eric Evans, who is a goalkeeper, both starred in a 2 – 2 draw against Hampshire Schools FA at Clevedon Town.

Keelan said,

“It was a great honour to be selected to play for my county and although the game was affected by the rain and wind, I really enjoyed playing against Hampshire and cannot wait for the next set of games to come along”.

Both players currently attend Haygrove School and through their weekly training sessions at the BTFC and Team BC Football Development Centre, have already played for the Bridgwater Town under 18's side this season and will continue their studies at Bridgwater College from September and will receive 12 hours of football training and fixtures each week and play for the Team BC football squads on Wednesday's and Saturday's, alongside their academic programmes.

Jamie Laird, Development Centre Manager said,

“We are very proud that we have had two players selected to play for the County and I know that others will follow as we had another 6 players that were in the final trials and could be called up for future matches. The Development Centre is all about the long term development of each player and having both Eric and Keelan progressing into County football representation proves that this focus is working and paying dividends for the young local talent we have and this can only benefit the club and Team BC football.”
