Bridgwater College recently held an ‘international’ buffet lunch for all students studying a foreign language or studying English as a foreign language. The aim of the event was to foster new friendships among students and to enable attendees of previous lunches to build on the friendships they made.
The lunch also supported students with a shared interest in languages in their studies, by enabling them to converse with fluent speakers.
Liberty Pring, 16, from Bridgwater said,
“International lunches are a really good way for language students to chat with fellow students who speak the language fluently, which definitely helps our conversational skills. It's also interesting to learn about the culture of other countries from people who have actually lived there and experienced it first-hand.”
