Our car specifications
The team has a number of cars, some used for competition and others as dedicated learning tools.
The team has replaced its well-developed Radical Clubsport with a technologically more advanced PR6. This uses a Suzuki Hayabusa engine with full data logging, programmable ECU, dry sump system and fully floating brakes. Continuing its tradition for immaculately-prepared cars, the team is currently carrying out a pre-season rebuild, before beginning the process of developing the correct suspension set-up using the advanced geometry and corner weighting equipment.
Peugeot 205 GTI Rally Car
The Level 2 and 3 students prepared this car meticulously to suit the regulations in 2009. Since then it has performed competitively at local rallys, with driver Mark Hill at the wheel accompanied by co-driver Simon Burt, our Motorsport workshop manager and Level 3 programme manager respectively. The students are able to gain excellent real life experience at the rally stages and perform well as a team.
Swift Formula Ford 2000
This single seater is used in the workshop for suspension tasks due to its adjustability and transmission tasks, as it is fitted with a Hewland transaxle gearbox. It is also fitted with Webber carburettors and dry sump system which are used for engine technology tasks.
Van Diemen Vauxhall Junior
This single seater is also used for suspension, transmission and engine tasks, although this is fitted with an MBE engine management system and Jenvey throttle bodies which provide a good introduction to programmable engine management systems.
The Swift and Van Diemen provide excellent experience for any student wishing to progress on to working with similar vehicles such as Formula Ford, Formula BMW, Formula Renault or Formula 3.
Rover Mighty Mini
This Mini, prepared for the Mighty Mini championship, is used for Level 2 Motorsport students as an introduction to a race event. It is also used in workshop tasks.
We look forward to seeing you at our race events and can also offer chassis set-up and rolling road facilities to suit your racing needs, no matter which area of Motorsport you're involved in. Don't hesitate to get in touch by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 01278 441228.
