Bridgwater and Somerset Merger
Bridgwater College and Somerset College merged in June 2016, bringing together the academic and vocational training expertise of two excellent organisations.
The larger college will better be able to withstand the combined challenges of a declining demographic among 16-18 year olds and reducing government funding, thereby safeguarding the education and training prospects of young people across Somerset.
We believe that the new Bridgwater & Taunton College harnesses the very best staff, resources and facilities that our region has to offer, providing security and career progression for staff that, in turn, will provide a more stable environment for learning and a positive experience for students and employers.
Bridgwater & Taunton College operates across three main centres in Bridgwater, Taunton and Cannington, as well as satellite centres in Yeovil and Paignton. It has approximately 28,000 students and 1,500 staff across these centres, and offers one of the broadest curricula in the whole of the South West.
However, please rest assured that all education and training provision will continue as normal, and our contact details will remain the same, although you may notice changes to our signage and stationery.
Above all, we will continue to support all students and apprentices in gaining the skills and qualifications they need to maximise employment opportunities within and beyond our local communities.
