Employers
While other towns in the South West may be struggling in the current economic climate, the significant investment in Bridgwater and the surrounding area by major companies such as EDF Energy and DHL/Morrisons offers our local economy a wonderful opportunity for long-term growth and prosperity.
Bridgwater College has a key role to play in ensuring that the community it serves can derive maximum benefit from these opportunities, and our commitment to this extends beyond the care and education of young people; we recognise that we also have a vital role to play in meeting the training needs of local employers and their current workforce.
Our business training curriculum is constantly evolving to reflect the significant changes and investment taking place in the Somerset economy. Businesses will need to think ahead in order to ‘gear up’ for the opportunities that are coming their way, and we are keen to build lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with local companies in order to respond quickly and efficiently to their training needs in areas such as:
- Administration, Business and Management
- Art, Design, Media and Textiles
- Automotive
- Childcare
- Computing and IT
- Construction
- Engineering
- English, Maths and Languages
- Hair, Beauty and Complementary Therapies
- Health and Social Care
- Land-based Studies
- Laundry
- Nuclear
- Teaching and Training
- Transport and Logistics

Apprenticeships
We also offer apprenticeships programmes at a number of levels and, with university tuition fees on the rise, are seeing an increasing number of young people wanting to gain practical skills, further their education and gain a nationally-recognised qualification, all while earning a wage. The role of the employer is key to the success of the scheme, and if you would like to explore the possibility of devising an apprenticeship for your business, please contact us.
