Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for those with a keen interest in becoming more self-sufficient in maintaining their own car.

What does the course involve?

This introductory course provides knowledge of vehicle maintenance. There are no entry requirements. On completion, learners can progress onto the Advanced Car Maintenance course.

  • H&S, Tools and equipment
  • Vehicle safety check and possible rectification
  • Breaks
  • Tyres  

What makes this course special?

The course takes place in a purpose built workshop providing a realistic working environment with excellent up to date facilities.

The course is flexible and the content adaptable to the needs of the group.  Learners will be working on college cars for the whole course.

Entry Requirements

Steel toe cap boots and overalls for all activity within the workshops.

What are the assessment methods?

You will complete a range of basic practical tasks.

How long is the course?

2.5 hours in one evening a week, over 5 weeks. 

Are there any additional costs for the course?

All learners will be expected to come in overalls and stout boots ideally with a steel toe.

What are the progression options?

There are potential progression routes for further study within college.
