Who is the course for?

Those wishing to learn rural business administration skills, including farmers, farm managers, and farm secretaries. The course is of particular interest to adults wishing to update their skills, as well as to younger people who wish to learn these skills. Please note this course is delivered on-line through distance learning.

What will I study on the course?

There are three distinct sections which together cover all the content of the Bridgwater College Certificate. They are studied consecutively. The three areas are:

  1. Book-keeping and accounts: VAT, cash analysis, trading accounts, balance sheets and proof of accounts.
  2. Wages and employment: wages, PAYE, sick pay, employment records and legislation, health and safety.
  3. Livestock records: statutory records (including cattle passports), farm assurance, breeding records, production records.
  4. Or crops records: statutory records, farm assurance, production records.

What will I need for the course?

Adults with appropriate experience may gain entry without formal qualifications. Other needs 4 GCSEs at C or above, or an appropriate Level 2 qualification.
