Who is the course for?
The IMI Accreditation Diagnostic Technician route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles.
The technician should be working in the light vehicle sector of the industry, and ideally have at least three years’ experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to diagnose and rectify system faults, including replacing components and return the vehicle systems to manufacturer specification.
What are the assessment methods?
Practical and online tests during the course of one day covering:
- Four wheel alignment - interpretation of data
- Mechanical system diagnosis
- Electrical system diagnosis
- Computer-based test equipment – diagnosis vehicle safety systems
