This course is designed to meet the needs of local industry, providing companies and individuals with fast track skilling in a range of welding types and methods.
What does the course involve?
This course will offer a range of possibilities including MIG, TIG, GAS and ARC.
What makes this course special?
Practical classes take place in our specialist and fully equipped welding workshop and is delivered by a tutor with extensive industry experience.
Learners will need to have basic engineering skills and will need overalls and appropriate footwear. Safety equipment is provided.
Candidates may have to supply their own materials if they have specific material training requirements.
What are the assessment methods?
There is no direct assessment with this short course. However, delegates will be expected to complete a set of welding assignment.
How long is the course?
The course runs for one term.
What are the College attendance requirements?
One evening per week for three hours.
Are there any additional costs for the course?
Learners will also be offered the opportunity to undertake BS4872 competence testing at an additional cost of £50 per test (test pieces will be independently verified by an external party). BS4872 coded welder approval certificates will be issued by the external verifiers for those completing the competency testing at the required standard.
