Who is the course for?

GCSE Maths is a core subject essential for many jobs and for progression on most courses.  It will be an integral part of all programmes if you do not already hold a GCSE A* - C.

What does the course involve?

This course takes a holistic approach to Maths and covers the following topics:

  1. Number
  2. Algebra
  3. Geometry
  4. Measures
  5. Statistics
  6. Probability

All will be examined in June 2014 in two papers.  Each paper will cover the same topics but one will require the use of a calculator, the other will not.

Entry Requirements

Entry qualification is GCSE Maths Grade D or 3 (a certificate must be produced) with additional assessment taken on entry to college. Please note that you will need to apply for this course, and should not enrol online.

What are the assessment methods?

There will be a final assessment at the end of the year.

How long is the course?

One year; part time.

What are the progression options?

Successful achievement of your GCSE Maths will help you to progress to other courses, employment and university.
