Who is the course for?

This would be of interest to those who are interested in learning how to use Microsoft PowerPoint and perhaps have not used it before or have limited skills and would like to learn to make more professional, or effective presentations. You may wish to develop presentations for a club or society, work, or personal use, this course will help you achieve the skills to go on and develop presentations that have impact.

What does the course involve?

You will learn the basics features and functions in PowerPoint, including:

  • Storage and retrieval
  • Creating presentations
  • Editing slides
  • Combining information
  • Reviewing and printing

You will work through a workbook in the workshop sessions.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of the Beginners Computing and/or Basic IT skills.

What are the assessment methods?

You will sit an exam in-house at the end of the course; lots of practice to ensure you are ready, with a number of resit opportunities if needed.

How long is the course?

Up to 30 weeks, although almost all learners complete much quicker than this, often in just a few weeks depending on practice and existing skills.

What are the College attendance requirements?

Two hours per week in College workshops on a flexible attendance basis.

Are there any additional costs for the course?

Resits may require an examination fee.

What are the progression options?

Many leaners have built so much confidence that they progress to other courses to enhance the qualification they have already gained – often electing to enrol on ECDL Essentials at Level 1, enabling them to work towards another employer recognised qualification.

Most learners complete the course to develop skills in their presentations to develop their confidence or performance at work. Some learners use the course to develop skills that assist them in their search for further advancement or alternative employment.
