Who is the course for?
Successful entrepreneurs have an understanding of their markets and their product, they are creative and have a passion for success. This course is for anyone who believes they have a passion for entrepreneurship and business, and who wants to develop a broad understanding of business in the modern world.
What does the course involve?
The course comprises of both theoretical and practical units of study that provide a mix of business knowledge and skills to be a successful entrepreneur in the 21st century.

What makes this course special?
This qualification is equivalent to three full A Levels and our staff are passionate about the world of business, and many are successful entrepreneurs. We have excellent links with industry, and a number of key local industries including National Westminster Bank, local estate agents and Bristol law courts all support our programme on a regular basis. The team has outstanding work placement experience and excellent links with local and national industries.
Work placements provide an excellent opportunity to experience diverse and exciting business sectors from Logistics through to advertising. Students on a business programme have worked with advertising agencies in Bristol and London, within the banking sector at National Westminster Bank and Lloyds Bank as well as in the retail sector with John Lewis and Next, to name a few. It enables you to gain valuable insight into working in the industry which will support you with your coursework and enable you to gain knowledge and skills within a sector that you have a passion for business.
You need five GCSEs in the A* to C or 9 to 4 range including English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit grade. If you do not achieve a grade 4 in English and Maths, you will be required to study these subjects alongside your course. Acceptance is also subject to a successful interview and reference.
What are the assessment methods?
The majority of the units will be internally set and marked and will include case studies, written reports, projects, observation and practical work. There will be externally set and marked assessments for four units across the two years and two exams.
How long is the course?
Two years, full-time.
What are the College attendance requirements?
You will spend 14 hours a week at College with an expectation that you will commit an additional 12 to 15 hours of self-study.
Other time commitments include work on live projects and attending events such as progression day, UCAS and careers days.
Are there any additional costs for the course?
There will be opportunities to attend day visits and residentials throughout your studies.
What are the progression options?
You could find employment within the business world or move on to study at a higher level. Previous students have gained full-time employment following successful work placements, and many went on to study degrees at institutions such as Cardiff Business School and Bournemouth, Exeter and Liverpool University.
