This course is ideal for those that have an interest in sound engineering for both live sound and recording music.

What does the course involve?

Over the 10 weeks this course will introduce the basics of sound engineering for both live and recording music including:

  • Sound system configuration
  • Staging
  • Microphones
  • Sound Mixing Techniques
  • Monitoring Systems
  • Signal flow and gain staging

This course will be very practical giving learners the hands-on experience of working with sound technologies in a professional sound environment for both live and recorded music.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for the course but an understanding and appreciation of music and music technology is beneficial.

How long is the course?

The course is 10 weeks long.

What are the College attendance requirements?

Each session is 2.5 hours long.

What are the progression options?

This course could lead on to other music production leisure courses at Bridgwater and Taunton College, including an Introduction to Pro Tools and an Introduction to Ableton Live.

This course could also lead on to a BTEC level 3 Subsidiary or Extended Diploma in Music Production or Music Technology.
