Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of textile and surface printmaking techniques.
What does the course involve?
Over the six weeks you will explore a varied range of textile and surface printmaking techniques including screen printing, using stencils, photographic printmaking and sublimation heat transfer techniques. The course will include practical hands on activities for all of these different techniques.
What makes this course special?
This course is highly flexible so you will have ample opportunity to influence the images and designs you produce for each printmaking technique. It also covers a lot of different techniques to give you a flavour of the scope of textile and surface printmaking methods.
There are no formal requirements for this course excepting an enthusiasm to learn some new skills and explore your creativity through printmaking.
You will be expected to come with some inspiration each week. Our expert tutor will provide guidance on where to look to generate ideas and themes in readiness for each week.
What are the assessment methods?
The tutor will provide feedback to help you learn and master new activities and techniques.
Are there any additional costs for the course?
The course costs include the printing inks and basic textiles to print onto. If you have tshirts, bags or other garments etc you would like to adorn you will need to provide that yourself. Learners will need to provide an overall to protect clothing from the inks used in printmaking.
