Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of printmaking and dyeing techniques.
What does the course involve?
Over the four weeks you will explore one printmaking and one dyeing technique both of which utilise only blue inks and dyes. Cyanotypes is a sun printing technique onto paper and fabric. Shibori dyeing is a dip dye technique using indigo dyes to create interesting fabrics in the characteristic colour.
What makes this course special?
This highly unusual course will make use of some usual materials to create beautiful items to keep.
There are no formal requirements for this course excepting an enthusiasm to learn some new skills and explore your creativity through printmaking and dyeing.
What are the assessment methods?
The tutor will provide feedback to help you learn and master new activities and techniques.
Are there any additional costs for the course?
The course costs include the printing inks and dyes you will need and the paper and fabric required to master the techniques. If you have a specific item you would like to dye please discuss this with your tutor. Learners will need to provide an overall to protect clothing from the inks and dyes used in this course.
