Who is the course for?
This part-time course is designed for anyone considering a career in events planning and management whether conferences, music festivals, weddings, or sporting events. It provides the opportunity to develop knowledge of the industry and the principles of event planning.
What does the course involve?
Learners will follow a NCFE Certificate in Event Planning programme leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Learners will study a number of topics including:
Types of events: consider different types of events and their characteristics eg. size and scale and examples under the leisure, sport and conference centres.
Event planning: produce a proposal and plan for your own event that includes financial, human and physical resources, key dates and actions required, as well as health and safety and even itinieraries.
Event operations: consider on the day; security, responsibilities and customer service, and communication with the public.

Assessment will by a mix of assignment work, worksheets and project work. Assignments could involve: individual research, group work, practical activities, oral and visual presentations.

Learners will have gained knowledge and experience and may choose to move directly into employment, within the events sector.
