Who is the course for?
A practical course designed for the professional user or anyone who requires the National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) Certificate of Competence.
What does the course involve?
The course covers current legislation, operation, safe use and maintenance of a chainsaw.
What makes this course special?
The course provides practical skills and underpinning knowledge that is required prior to being assessed for the Certificate of Competence, as required by legislation.
There are no formal entry requirements; only an interest in the subject and a willingness to learn.
Learners will be required to bring the following:
- Steel-toe capped boots
- Two passport photographs
- Lunch - a packed lunch and flask, although refreshments are available for purchase on-site
The use of a chainsaw and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are provided: chainsaw boots, trousers, helmet and gloves. Learners may also bring their own equipment should they wish.
What are the assessment methods?
A practical assessment with an external assessor for NPTC CS30.1 and CS30.2 following the two-day course.
How long is the course?
The course is held on demand and is for two days plus half day assessment.
What are the progression options?
This course is a pre-requisite of progressing to NPTC CS31 Felling Small Trees.
