Who is the course for?

This qualification builds on the learning of the Level 1 Diploma and aims to progress your knowledge and understanding of electrical installation and systems in domestic, commercial and industrial environments. It will include subject areas such as trade theory, electrical science and practical skills.

What does the course involve?

This course is made up of a number of units which look into areas such as domestic and commercial installations at level 2 with an introduction to level 3. All units have a practical and theory element. This course is the ideal preparation if you are considering progressing to an apprenticeship.

  • Health and Saftey
  • Electrical Installation Theory and Technology
  • Electrical Installation Methods Procedures and Requirements
  • Electrical Installation Craft Skills
  • Electrical Science and Principles

Placements/Work Placements

Work experience in the electrical trade will be beneficial to help the learner get an insight into an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs A* – C or 9 – 4, including Maths, English and science
  • Successful interview

How long is the course?

One year.

What are the College attendance requirements?

15 hours a week including self-study

Are there any additional costs for the course?

Course materials, safety foot wear and other P.P.E (Approx £120)

What are the progression options?

Students can progress on to a day release apprenticeship programme (an employer in the electrical trade with appropriate work is required) or on to the Electrical Installation Level 3 course.
