Who is the course for?
This course is for 16-19 year olds with a keen interest in art & design from animation to fashion & textiles and a desire to follow an educational route within the art & design pathways. This course will focus on the creative aspects of 2D and 3D design. The course is a good place to develop a range of skills before choosing to specialise in one of the pathway choices at Level 3 in Art & Design and Level 3 in Commercial Fashion.

Alongside these you will study in detail the various creative industries and you will be able to specialise in your Major Project at the end of the course in a pathway of your choosing.
What makes this course special?
Level 2 Art & Design is a practical, exciting and empowering course to study. Students have the opportunity to access a range of visual art media to see where their skills lie before they progress to Level 3.
You will have access to trips and residential, visiting speakers and professional facilities.
Work placements and work readiness are encouraged throughout the course to ensure that you are ready for progression in further courses and the work environment.

What are the assessment methods?
- Practical and written assignments
- Observation by your tutor
- You will be encouraged to evaluate your own work and the work of others and to set targets for yourself in relation to your work and general progress.
How long is the course?
One year, full time.
What are the College attendance requirements?
Up to 15 hours in College. In addition you will expected to complete tasks and self-managed your study time out side of the timetabled college events.
Are there any additional costs for the course?
There is a course material fee, which, you will be advised about upon applying. There are also costs for optional and compulsory trips and visits.
What are the progression options?
You can progress onto a two year Level 3 course in either Art & Design, Commercial Fashion, Creative Media Production, Digital Media Design or A levels pending an interview.
Level 2 students that have progressed onto Level 3 courses have undertaken university study, apprenticeships and on occasion have moved straight into the creative industries.
