Who is the course for?

This is a one year full time course working in partnership with our industry partners and has been designed to give students engineering practical skills and knowledge in preparation for apprenticeships, work or progression to a Level 3 full time course.

This course is aimed at preparing students to enter the exciting world of engineering by giving them a grounding in many of the core engineering skills, working safely and effectively, together with an introduction to computer aided design (CAD). The course is suitable for School Leavers who would like an interesting and challenging career within a variety of engineering industries including… Manufacturing, Energy, Aerospace, Maintenance, Design, Welding and Fabrication, Automotive and Defence.

What makes this course special?

The College has recently made substantial investments in Machine Shops, Robotics, CNC, CAD and Process Control Technology and opened a brand new state of the art engineering facility in 2011. This course provides an excellent grounding in engineering principles and practices and enables students to make a reasoned choice for their next step within engineering. Entry Requirements

You will need at least four GCSEs in the A* – E or 9 - 3 range.

Alternatively you could have a relevant Level 1 or higher qualification. Entry is also subject to a successful interview.

What are the assessment methods?

Students will be assessed Programme through a range of practical and written assessments.

How long is the course?

One year, full time.

What are the progression options?

You will have the opportunity to progress on to a large range of Engineering Apprenticeships or one of the Level 3 Engineering Diplomas.
