Agriculture Innovation Centre

Our Agriculture Innovation Centre located at Rodway Farm is not only used as a first class teaching facility for the students at Bridgwater & Taunton College, it also has resources and facilities to undertake commercial trial and research work. The Centre was officially opened by Deborah Meaden on 15 October 2015

Focused around the livestock sector, Rodway Farm has a commercial dairy herd and sheep flock. We have also entered commercial partnerships with companies to develop and explore the latest techniques and technology available. This also enhances the student experience and ensures engagement with the cutting edge technology needed in a commercial farming business.

We work very closely with the industry, examples being where students attend shows and demonstrations and industry representatives come into College to deliver training sessions. Students undertake work experience and complete skills based and supervisory farm duties to add value and enhance employability skills and progression opportunities. We are continually adapting our programmes to meet the continued strong and growing industry demand.

Our students have the full benefit of the outstanding teaching resources and facilities ensuring they have an excellent learning experience across all aspects of agriculture, including arable, mechanisation and livestock management. Other resources include welding and fabrication workshops and laboratories equipped with the latest scientific equipment to give students excellent access to the latest industry standards. We also have a fully equipped Biosecurity Centre which ensures students work to unrivalled standards of disease prevention and control.

The Agricultural curriculum area delivers a wide range of educational and training programmes for full-time, part-time and apprenticeship students from Foundation Level to full Honours Degree. We continue to drive forward with our fast growing and dynamic curriculum meeting the needs of the agricultural and land-based industries. We have expertise in all aspects of agriculture and our tutors have strong links with industry.

Programmes include Foundation, Advanced and Higher Agricultural Apprenticeships, Diploma programmes at Levels 1,2 & 3 and Higher Education programmes at Certificate level to full Honours Degree.
