Learning Resource Centres

Learning Resource Centres are accessible at all of our campuses, including dedicated facilities for Higher Education/University Centre Somerset students.

Areas are set aside for quiet study or group work, with access to networked computers, printing, scanning and photocopying. All students are welcome to use their own mobile device/laptops with the Wi-Fi connection to the College network, and there is a useful booking facility for computer reservations which students can use.

Resources include books (including fiction); course textbooks; magazines; journals; film; foreign language DVDs; music; audio books. National and local newspapers are also provided. There is an extensive collection of resources and information within Blackboard (our Virtual Learning Environment) with links to online databases, e-Books and websites which will help with research. There is also a free inter-library loan system if the resource required is not in stock, as well as a Book Shop facility.

Library staff are always on hand to help. All students are offered both group and one to one study skills support. New HE students also have the opportunity to complete our HEADstart programme (Higher Education Academic Development), which will develop the skills required to confidently succeed at degree level studies.
