Benefits of HE
1. Lower fees than universities
We generally do not charge full fees on any of our higher education courses; we have negotiated with our university partners to charge lower fees than them. As an example a university may charge £9,000 a year and we may charge £6,000, a 33% saving for our students! Although students will need to pay to study higher education, there are a number of loans and grants available to assist them. Money needn’t be a barrier to your future education.
2. Strong partnerships with prestigious universities
Links with universities put Bridgwater College in a favourable position. Having prestigious universities wanting to work alongside us is due to the excellent reputation we hold both nationally and regionally. Our examination and course results consistently place us among the best of all education and training providers in the South West.
3. Small class sizes and high quality teaching
An advantage of studying in a college environment is the fact that class sizes are significantly reduced, meaning that students receive a high level of academic and personal support from lecturers and personal tutors, many of whom have postgraduate qualifications and extensive teaching and industry experience.
4. Supportive environment
We provide a high level of support to all our students at the College. Each student is allocated a tutor and will receive regular tutorials or one to one meetings, if required. Our Student Support and Additional Learning Needs teams are also available for all our students to access if they need to do so. We want our students to achieve their goals, therefore if one to one support in the classroom, extra exam time or sessions in our study skills workshop are needed, we have measures we can put in place to help.
5. Modern state-of-the-art facilities
We want our students to learn in the most up-to date environments, helping them enjoy their studies as much as possible. Significant and on-going investment into our facilities helps us to attract new students as well as helping our current students to progress internally.
7. Over 30 courses on offer
How long would you like to continue with your studies? One, two or three years? Would you like to study on a full or part-time basis? Each of our HE courses has different options available, allowing
you to study and work, if you wish to do so. We offer HNCs/HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Degree
top ups and a range of professional qualifications in partnership with awarding bodies and universities.
8. Live at home and study
Studying away from home can be expensive, but we are offering you the opportunity to stay at home and study a higher education course while remaining in your current environment and being familiar with your surroundings. Keep your current job or find a job to help you fund your higher education course, which may reduce your long term debt and in some cases provide you with excellent work experience.
