Taunton Maids Bursary
Ambitious and enthusiastic young people who wish to advance their education and pursue a career in the Music industry, may wish to seek a grant from the Taunton Maids Bursary through Bridgwater and Taunton College.
What does the Bursary offer?
There are few restrictions on what the Bursary can be used for. However, we anticipate students may need help funding the cost of musical instruments or music lessons in order to progress with their studies, or travel to music events or interviews/auditions.
Applicants will be required to outline what they require help with the associated costs.
- Be between the ages of 16 and 25 years at the date of your award
- Be normally resident in the administrative county of Somerset (including North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset)
- Be studying on a Music related course at Bridgwater & Taunton College
- Be able to demonstrate an intention to advance your education in the field of music
You will be required to complete an online application form and provide details of what you intend to spend the grant on.
Is the Bursary linked to household income?
Not necessarily, although applicants who demonstrate financial hardship which may be impacting on their ability to progress in their studies may be prioritised.
Terms and Conditions
The awarding panel will meet each month to discuss all applicants and decide which students will become recipients of the Taunton Maids Bursary. The first panel meeting will be held during the second half of the Autumn term and on a monthly basis thereafter.
If you are awarded a grant the College will monitor your progress and attendance on your course. You will be expected to provide an evaluation statement on how receiving your grant has been of benefit to you and how it has positively impacted on your studies.
