Meet James Couper, Furniture Making Apprentice

I’m an Apprentice at Longpré Furniture, one of the leading cabinet making workshops in the country that create bespoke, high quality furniture. I attend College one day a week to study theory and improve my practical skills, and the rest of the week working. The Apprenticeship allows me to earn a salary while studying and is preparing me for the next stage in my career. I’ve also been selected to represent the College at the 2017 SkillBuild competition where I’ll compete against other talented young furniture makers.

The Apprenticeship has improved my furniture making skills and my tutors have taught me how to think outside the box. After College I hope to work full-time at Longpré Furniture and pursue a career creating innovative contemporary furniture.
